Jack McLaughlin

• ACTOR • VOICE ACTOR • LONDON • DUBLIN

Jack was born in Dublin, Ireland. An initially shy child, Jack often preferred to day dream and had a vivid imagination making all kinds of worlds and characters in his head, often fully embodying the personalities he idolised and amalgamated from growing up on a legacy of comic books and cartoon heroes and villains. He had his first taste of performance at age 7, when he was scouted to Audition for Christopher Nolan’s “Batman Begins”. Ironically after this audition he said he never wanted to act again. But as the saying goes: “Never say never”. At age 14 he and his family relocated to Warsaw, Poland and attended the American School of Warsaw. It was here that a teacher, Mark Loiterton, pushed Jack to engage in his Improv. Elective class. Jack was reluctant, but accepted the push. From here, the fire for performance only grew, burning brighter and brighter with every class and performance. He continued acting all the way through highschool, taking it as one of his higher level courses in the International Baccalaureate (IB) programe, studying Stanislavski, and Commedia Dell'arte, and even expanding his skills to joining, and eventually captaining, the highschool Dance Troupe. This was when he realised acting was for him. After 3 years there, his family moved again to Montreal, Canada where he fully embraced his career in performance, playing the leading role in Kuper Academy’s production of “Tuck Everlasting”, and “The Scarecrow” in their adaptation of “The Wizard of Oz”.

Upon graduating, Jack auditioned for a number of Acting programmes across the United States, The United Kingdom, and Ireland, including The Academy of Dramatic Arts from which he was offered a merit scholarship. He attended their 2-year acting conservatory where he further expanded his knowledge of, and skills in his craft. He was offered a spot in their selective 3rd-year acting company, where he performed as a representative of the school for the next year, across 4 separate seasons of shows. Throughout his time at the Academy, some of his favourite roles were Neil in “The Play About My Dad” by Boo Killebrew, Bill in “Trouble in Mind” by Alice Childress and The Mastiff in “The Moors” by Jen Silverman.

Since Graduating, Jack has relocated to London and is a Co-founder of the joint AADA Alumni Theatre Company “Giggle Riot” and has performed in both their shows, as Paris in “Juliet & Romeo”(2021) by Tom Inman, which won the Offie Award for best short play, and as Rian in “Night Light”(2023) by Maeve O’Haire and Tom Chandler, which was nominated for the Offie awards for best new play and for best set design. He is currently represented by Gemma Surridge at GLS Talent Management, and is set to reprise his role as Rian later this year in July 2024.
